Quick Fit Tip: Pack your bag....and take it with you!

It's the first week of January, fitness clubs are flooded and the treadmill wait times are already starting to annoy me.... Here it is folks, the first of many "quick fit tips" for this lovely time of year! Cue the chazzy logo!

I'm going to just post these bad boys as they come to me, hopefully just documenting things I try to do to get my act together with some sort of fitness routine.  The first one is actually a more recent development for me, but it's made a major difference!

Quick Fit Tip #1:
Keep a fully-stocked gym bag in your car with you.

Schedules are unpredictable. Somedays I can leave the office at 4pm, somedays it's not until 5:30 or 6. Sometimes I have meetings all day? Others I have good size breaks in between. I have yet to find a time that works for me to work out on a regular basis. When I have my gym bag ready to go, I can go over my lunch break if I have time, or I can more easily stop at the gym on the way home from the office.

My gym bag is a small duffle from Vera Bradley. I like that it's made of fabric, so I can throw it in the wash once in awhile. I keep my nicest/newest pair of running shoes in this bag, along with one workout outfit. I also usually throw a water bottle in so I can guzzle something during my run. The larger, square pink bag stays in the bag all the time.

It's just a large size vinyl make-up bag that zips up. Inside I keep anything to help me get 100% ready to go if I need to at the gym. This is a MAJOR win if I fit in a workout between other things during the day (ie; over the lunch hour).

Top Row: Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Swimming Goggles
Bottom Row: Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Hairbrush, Small bag with hair ties, headbands and lotion.

I'm the type of person that wouldn't work out if I couldn't find a hair tie. If I don't have a hair tie OR a sports bra? No frickin way! This little bag never leaves my gym bag and pretty eliminates me forgetting something.

I also keep a pair of headphones in this bag that never leave. I am NOTORIOUS for losing headphones, and this way I'll never be forced to get on the treadmill without my Nicki Minaj (seriously).

I've kept my gym bag in my car the last month, and have gotten a workout in 2-3 nights out of the work week. It's made it MUCH easier for me to avoid one the excuse of being unprepared.

Does anyone else do this? Anything I'm missing out of my gym bag?

  1. Super ideas. I am the same way about the hair tie/music/sports bra stuff. And yes, I am one of those peeps that is resolving to work out more in the new year. I don't have to be to work until noon on Tues or Thurs so those are my days that I will for sure be heading over to LA Fit (here's hoping anyway).

  2. OF COURSE your gym bag is Vera Bradley :) :) You are too cute. I just get dressed for the gym, go there then go home to shower. It works for me.

  3. Fabulous idea!

I'm always so red and nasty after a workout, I can't imagine going back to work!

I am going to take a few minutes and pack a "workout" bag- just to save myself when I do realize I have time to go!

  4. I love this!! I'm on a really strict schedule at the gym now, but I can only make that happen because I usually go super-crazy early in the morning. Life you, my nights are too unpredictable to make it happen regularly. I'm hoping to add some yoga to the routine soon though, and then I'm definitely going to need to be ready at the spur of the moment!
